LINET Sends Humanitarian Aid to Northern Nigeria
Ten Eleganza 1 beds worth €20,000 were donated by LINET to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic in northern Nigeria. Nigeria is the most populous country on the continent and one of the most affected African countries. The north of the country has long been a risky region decimated by the activities of the Boko Haram group. The gifts from LINET and LOM Praha, another Czech company that donated personal protective equipment, are intended to help the local healthcare system.
The AN-124 Ruslan, one of the largest aircraft in the world, brought humanitarian cargo to Kano in northern Nigeria. This aircraft had been used to transport 3 aircraft L-39 from the Nigerian Air Force to the Czech Republic for an agreed overhaul."Instead of allowing the plane to arrive empty, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Abuja, with the support of Czech companies, took the opportunity to transport and hand over Czech humanitarian donations," said Beata Matusíková, Head of the Economic and Trade Section of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Nigeria. Generous and effective support was provided by the companies Aero Vodochody, Defcon, and Excalibur International, including free space on the plane and assistance with logistics. The plane landed with the supplies at Kano Airport in early July. The shipment of Czech aid to Nigeria from corporate sources will be followed in the coming months by humanitarian aid from the Czech government.
